Preparing for the Day

By Rose

The following is accurate dialogue that occurred between me and my mom yelling to each other from different floors:

“Rose?!”
“Yeah?”
“Is something burning?!”
“Oh, no, Joey made Dave breakfast and then they used Dave’s hair straightener. Hey, are you sure Joey isn’t gay…?”
“No.”

So a few days ago, I had mentioned to Joey that, on Fridays, David and I park at Mikey’s for fencing, since I can’t park on campus because I am without a parking pass. The annex is just a hop and a skip from Mikey’s house, so the exercise is nice, plus we get to see Mikey, etc etc. Mikey has wanted Joey to come over and meet their new roommate and things, so the plan was to bring Joey with us last night.

A few hours before I left, Joey pitched a bitch and was all “I’m not going.” I know better than to try and force the kid, because he’s an ass. He left with other friends and I went on my own to pick up David and head towards Kent. We get to Mikey’s and Joey calls with “Hey…can you come back and pick me up…?” and use your imagination to insert some verbal fisticuffs between brother and sister so I may get on with this strange tale. We end up going back to get him because I am a pushover.

Joey is a complete ass to me the rest of the night since David is there, and Joey feeds off of the presence of other people so he may belittle me relentlessly, go figure. Long and short of it is, David spent the night. Some time this morning I ventured downstairs to discover Joey fixing bowls of cereal and chocolate milk. On the table, there were already some really crappy looking pancakes. The only thing that could complete the scenario is if Joey had been wearing an apron.

Let me just append here that somehow he used almost ALL of the soy milk. Prior to him waking up, I had opened our last carton. When I picked it up again, it was nearly empty. Mom is going to be pissed. Ovaltine doesn’t even dissolve properly in soy milk.

For the rest of today, I have to make a few appearances, then take Dave home. My plans to get to the gym were scratched when my parents made off with both cars in the wee hours of before I woke up.

I should check to make sure Steve survived yesterday.
